Id-ul-Zuha This is an important festival for Muslims, which occur in January/February.
Dussehra This Hindu festival is celebrated for Lord Ram’s Victory over Ravan and is celebrated in October. During the ten days period of this festival story of Ramayana is narrated at various places. In the last day of festival effigies of Ravan and his brother and son are burnt with colorful display of fireworks. Ram Lila Maidan near Delhi Gate is famous for this festival.
Diwali Very important Hindu festival celebrated with lights all over delhi city. People celebrate it by burning crackers. It is celebrated in the event that Lord Ram returned to Ayodhaya after victory over Ravan. During this day of festival Laxmi the Goddess of weath is worshipped.
Guru Parab To celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak who is founder of Sikh religion it is celebrated a fortnight after Diwali.
Old Fort : The second Mughal emperor Humayun had built it. It has emperor’s
(Purana Qila) : living quarters, library, soldiers barracks and a mosque built by Sher Shah Suri. Sound and light show of Delhi cultural heritage is held here at particular timing.
Jama Masjid : It is near Red Fort and is one of Asia’s largest mosques which was built by Emperor Shah Jahan. Daily prayers are held here.
Jantar Mantar : It is in Connaught Place the heart of Delhi and made of red sandstone. Raja Jai Singh II had built it. It is an astronomical observatory used to measure time.
Qutub Minar : This is five-storey tower built in 1193AD. To mark the first Muslim dynasty in India Qutubudin Aibak who was slaveof Mohammed Ghauri had built it. This is world Heritage Monument.
Raj Ghat : It is memorial to Mahatma Gandhi where he was cremated. Near to this is the Gandhi Memorial Museum. Raj Ghat is on the bank of River yamuna.
Lakshmi Narayan Temple :
This is a
very big hindu temple built by industrialist B.D. Birla in1938.This is also called Birla Mandir by locals.
Adjacent to this temple there is park.
Akshardham : It is situated in Akshardham Temple, Nizamuddin Bridge, Opp. Mayur Vihar, Phase-1. Timings: 0900 to 1800 hrs. Monday closed.

National Museum
: This
is on Janpath in delhi and largest museum of country. Film shows
on the art heritage of Indian are shown at 1430 hrs. on
weekdays
and at 1130hrs, 1430 hrs, and 1600 hrs on Saturdays
and Sundays.
Gandhi Smriti : It is situated on Birla House in delhi, 5, Tees January Marg.
Crafts Museum : It exhibits the handicrafts created by India’s village artisans. Situated on Pragati Maidan, Bhairon Road delhi.
National Gallery of Modern Art : It houses Indian art paintings. Situated on Jaipur House, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, delhi. Tel : 23382835.
Archaeological Museum : Red Fort, delhi Timings 1000 to 1700.
Gandhi National Museum : Ring Road, opp. Raj Ghat in delhi. Timings 0930 to 1730 hrs.
Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Musical Instruments Gallery : Rabindra Bhavan, Feroze Shah Road, Timings 0930 to 1700 hrs.
